Civic Agora: Where Citizens Meet MONDIACULT 2025

From 26 September to 1 October, Barcelona will host the Civic Agora, a unique citizen forum to explore the role of culture in building fairer, more inclusive, and more sustainable societies. This event runs in parallel with MONDIACULT 2025, UNESCO’s World Conference that will bring together ministers and experts to shape global cultural policies for the years ahead.

Over six days, the Civic Agora will feature more than 100 free activities — talks, dialogues, workshops, and debates — in venues such as the CCCB, the MACBA, and the Institut d’Estudis Catalans. Participants will have the chance to engage with leading international voices including Alexandra Xanthaki (UN Special Rapporteur on Cultural Rights), Patrice Meyer-Bisch (Fribourg Declaration), Justin O’Connor (Culture is not an industry), Sneška Quaedvlieg–Mihailović (Europa Nostra) and Lars Ebert (Culture Action Europe).

The programme will address six key themes: cultural rights; cultural and linguistic diversity; AI and culture; culture and peace; cities and culture in global agendas; and cultural ecosystems — all with the shared goal of placing culture at the heart of social transformation.
