Our mission
The mission of PULSE-ART is to produce compelling evidence illustrating a deep impact of arts in education for the enhancement of Cultural Awareness and Expression (CAE). At the heart of this initiative lies the concept of integrating art, culture, and heritage institutions, including museums, galleries, cultural centres and overall Cultural and Creative Industries (CCIs), into the educational framework. This integration aims to effectively address and surmount the deficiencies and barriers present within the educational system, hindering the improvement of CAE, through the arts.
Methodology
The PULSE-ART methodology consists of four interconnected layers aimed to promote the cost-effective integration of the arts in education and to foster Cultural Awareness and Expression (CAE):
The PULSE-ART methodology consists of four interconnected layers aimed to promote the cost-effective integration of the arts in education and to foster Cultural Awareness and Expression (CAE):
1. Implementation
This layer involves the development of an umbrella methodology for seven case studies based on best practices of arts in education. It will assess gaps in cultural awareness and educational needs. It will include a self-reflection tool to promote multicultural understanding through artistic expression and generate needed evidence of the impact of arts in education. It will also include a toolkit for Professional Development Programs to help educators integrate arts into education while promoting inclusivity.
2. Policy
The second layer aims to inform policies and develop recommendations for integrating the arts into the education systems to enhance Cultural Awareness and Expression (CAE). Through co-creation sessions and gap analysis, multi-stakeholders will identify barriers and priorities. The findings will shape policy briefs and guide the development of seven National Action Plans using a backcasting methodology to align each country’s resources and strategies for CAE.
3. International clustering and cooperation
The third layer enhances local and international collaboration to promote CAE through arts in education. It aims to connect key stakeholders, including educational institutions, cultural industries, and policy makers, through a multi-level engagement model. By creating seven collaborative Hubs and sharing experiences across case studies and related projects, it seeks to foster partnerships and build CAE capacity on a broader scale.
4. Impact assessment, sustainability and dissemination
The final layer evaluates the impact and sustainability of the project through key actions. It includes a self-reflection tool to assess progress in promoting cultural awareness through arts education. A dissemination plan will increase visibility through social media, conferences and press releases to ensure medium-term sustainability. Results will be compiled in the PULSE-ART Observatory, an open platform of curated educational resources and experiences to build a sustainable global network in CAE.
