This article explores how arts-based education is changing in response to increasingly diverse, digital and interconnected learning contexts.

Published in the International Journal on Culture, History, and Religion, the article analyses European trends in art education through examples from Italy, France, the Netherlands, Germany and Spain. It focuses on transdisciplinary and transcultural approaches, digital tools, STEAM, partnerships with cultural and creative industries and the development of transversal competences.

This makes it a useful read for the PULSE-ART community, as it addresses many of the questions that also guide our work: how artistic education can move across disciplines, how cultural diversity can be embedded in learning, and how digital practices can open new spaces for creativity and participation.

The article also reflects on how European practices can inform educational innovation in other contexts, offering insights into the role of arts education in fostering more flexible, inclusive and future-oriented learning environments.
