PULSE-ART has just released a new infographic that explores how the term “competence” is understood across a range of sources, including official documents and scientific articles.

This material was created within the framework of the “Study of the State of the Art and Best Practices in Arts Education”, an outcome of the project. The focus is on exploring the current situation and best practices in arts education in Europe to promote Cultural Awareness and Expression (CAE). This infographic, together with other resources, will be uploaded to the Observatory of Arts for Education, a free e-platform for the use in any educational, academic or outreach context.

Objectives of the infographic

  • Introduce five complementary definitions of the term “competence” to better understand the concept and reduce ambiguities.
  • Invite individuals to reflect on the concept “competence” and express their own understanding of the term creatively.
  • Encourage the development of key lifelong competences, especially CAE, according to the “Council Recommendation on Key Competences for Lifelong Learning”.
