Infographics: Competences for strengthening Cultural Awareness and Expression (CAE) for learners and educators

Developed within PULSE-ART, coordinated by ISGlobal in collaboration with the University of Malta, and other project partners.

May 14, 2026

These infographics present the competences defined in the PULSE-ART Competency Framework for learners and educators. They illustrate how Cultural Awareness and Expression (CAE) is operationalised through these competences in learning environments that integrate the arts as tools for learning and reflection.

Developed as part of the PULSE-ART Competency Framework task, the infographics facilitate a clearer understanding of how learner and educator competences are defined and connected, how learners’ creative, cultural, and social capacities are fostered, and how educators’ inclusive, reflective, and culturally responsive practices enable this process.

These materials contribute to the PULSE-ART´s broader aim of promoting art-based, inclusive, and culturally grounded education across Europe and Morocco. These infographics will also be available alongside the PULSE-ART Competence Frameworks on the Observatory of Arts for Education. The Observatory is a free online platform designed for educational, academic, and outreach use.

  • Present the key competences for learners and educators as defined in the PULSE-ART Competency Framework.
  • Clarify how CAE is operationalised in arts in education contexts.
  • Provide a clear visual reference that supports communication, training, and dissemination activities.
